About Central Illinois

The twin cities known as Bloomington-Normal cover portions of both Woodford and McLean counties and are at the heart of our Central Illinois market.

The Bloomington-Normal area is a vibrant community, who exemplify Midwestern values and have a remarkable quality of life. Located within two hours of Chicago, St. Louis and Indianapolis, the residents have the best of many worlds. Community events abound year round, train service to Chicago makes weekend trips easy and the Central Illinois Regional Airport is right in the neighborhood.

The Constitution Trail is a 45+ mile hard surfaced trail running through the Twin Cities that has been developed for walking, hiking, jogging and biking, providing the community with an outstanding linear park for the entire family. The initial portion of the Trail has been expanded over the years from the first project located on an abandoned railway, to reaching out to most segments of both communities. In Normal, the trail is considered to be one of the most treasured recreational facilities within the community.

The McLean County Courthouse, capped by a stately dome, is the landmark of historic Bloomington. A visitor can find museums, banks, a legal and governmental center, residential living, a large artists’ community, plus an assortment of specialty retail businesses and supportive services. There is an abundance of restaurants and a lively night scene.

Normal is the smaller of the two principal municipalities of the Bloomington-Normal metropolitan area. The main campus of Illinois' oldest public university, Illinois State University, a fully accredited four-year institution, is in Normal, as is Heartland Community College. Illinois Wesleyan University is a highly rated private university located in Bloomington.

Normal is also home to Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, a 221-bed full-service, not-for-profit hospital. It is one of the most advanced acute care facilities in central Illinois. From its beautiful atrium lobby to its state-of-the-art tower for critical care and obstetrics patients, the medical center's services encompass a wide range of acute, outpatient, rehabilitative and preventative health care.  For well over 100 years, the staff of BroMenn have been touching the lives of those living in central Illinois. While advances in technology have greatly changed how they treat various conditions, their personal attention to patients has remained constant.
