Critical Care candidates should have an excellent clinical skill set, commitment to resident teaching, a strong work ethic and most importantly looking to build a career with a dedicated team.
- Advocate Intensivist Partners (AIP) is designed to build a strong team of Intensivist leadership, who have a unified vision of how an Intensive Care Unit should operate, who take ownership of the Critical Care Units, and who apply contemporary critical care concepts to improve the quality of care and patient safety.
- Intensivists back up the rapid response team for in house issues, and actively support the ED to promote more efficient throughput.
- These units are closed units. The Intensivists are the sole deciders of Admissions, Discharges, Triage and Transfers. All orders go through the team. Intensivists are paid per shift and not RVU so as not to reward gratuitous procedures. Intensivists have structured multi-disciplinary rounds and include the palliative care team. Current metrics around Mortality, Clabsi, LOS and Vent Days have been superb.
Members of the AIP group work together to provide 24/7 care. Shifts are scheduled in 12-hour increments (7:00 am-7:00 pm), which has been shown to improve patient care and patient satisfaction. Shifts can be broken down to 3, 4, or 5 days of continuous coverage. Each physician works approximately 1932 hours per year.
Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital is committed to providing clinically excellent, compassionate care. Through strong partnerships with outstanding physicians and nursing staffs, we are improving the health of residents in our communities and meeting the highest standards for patient care.
Over its nearly 40-year history, Good Samaritan Hospital has evolved into a recognized national leader in health care. The hospital earned a Crystal Award from Truven Health Analytics in 2014 for being named to the 100 Top Hospitals list five times. It also is the only health care organization in the state to earn the prestigious Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, achieving the honor in 2010.
