Medical Director, Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit

Advocate Children’s Hospital is recruiting an experienced leader with commitment to excellence to serve as Medical Director of our Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. The ideal candidate is a MD/DO who is Board Certified/Eligible in Pediatric Cardiology or Pediatric Critical Care with additional subspecialty training in Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care preferably with 5 or more years of independent clinical experience beyond subspecialty training including managing pediatric heart transplant and advanced heart failure therapies in the critical care setting. Ideal candidates will display commitment to the diverse communities we serve across the Chicagoland area.

The primary clinical role is caring for complex congenital heart disease patients including post-operative cardiac surgery, ECMO, heart transplant, and advanced heart failure patients including ventricular assist devices. This care is in concert with other specialists from multiple medical and surgical areas. Additional responsibilities include leading the section of eleven Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care physicians optimizing the safe, effective, and engaging care for our patients, families, and team members including advanced practice providers, clinical research and interdisciplinary quality improvement, strong engagement in graduate medical education including Pediatric Cardiology Fellows.
