Job Description
We are seeking a full-time Congenital Cardiac Surgeon to participate in all activities of a well-established, comprehensive cardiac surgical service.   


The Chicagoland Children’s Health Alliance (CCHA) Heart Program is among the Nation’s top congenital heart disease programs and has been providing comprehensive care for patients with congenital heart disease for over three decades.
 
Our heart program currently includes two pediatric cardio-thoracic surgeons, 30 attending cardiologists, 10 categorical and advanced cardiology fellows, and dedicated cardiac anesthesia and perfusion services. Our cardiac surgeons perform over 400 cardiac operations per year and achieve outcomes that rank among the best in the nation (STS-CHS-Database). In particular, the congenital cardiac surgical service has a long-standing history of expertise and success in treating neonates and small infants with complex congenital heart disease.
 
The surgical practice draws from one the highest ambulatory clinic volumes regionally and nationally, with clinic sites throughout Chicago, the Chicago suburbs, Northern Illinois, and Northern Indiana, also covering a large portion of all births in the Chicago area.  Our cardiac program provides expertise in echocardiography, advanced cardiac imaging, electrophysiology, interventional cardiac catheterization, fetal cardiology, adult congenital heart disease, aortopathy, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, cardiac critical care, preventive cardiology, cardio-oncology, pulmonary hypertension, and advanced therapies for heart failure. 
 
Position Requirements
  • M.D. or D.O. degree
  • Eligible for an unrestricted Illinois Medical License
  • Board certification by the ABTS in Thoracic Surgery, as well as certification or eligibility for Congenital Cardiac Surgery sub-specialty certification
  • It is preferable that applicants have had at least 5 years of clinical practice following Fellowship completion, demonstrating particular interest and a consolidated track record in neonatal cardiac surgery and cardiac transplantation / ventricular assistance
  • Although UNOS certification as transplant surgeon is desirable, it is not an absolute requirement for the position.
