Job Description
Advocate Children’s Hospital (ACH) seeks full time BC Pediatric Infectious Disease Physician and Medical Director of Pediatric Infection Prevention.  Responsibilities in the role will be divided between the Medical Director role and clinical pediatric infectious disease.

ACH is composed of two hub campuses, one in Oak Lawn (South of the city of Chicago) and one in Park Ridge (North of the city of Chicago), and is part of the Advocate Aurora Health System. We serve as a leader in comprehensive, dedicated care for our young patients and are ranked in U.S. News & World Report among the nation’s Best Children's Hospitals in the areas of cardiology and cardiovascular surgery. In addition to the two hub campuses, we provide neonatal and pediatric care at several of our community hospital sites across the States of Illinois and Wisconsin as well as an extensive ambulatory footprint.

Candidates must have strong clinical skills and demonstrated teaching abilities in Pediatric Infectious Disease in addition to excellent interpersonal skills. Expectations of the role include both clinical care and teaching of medical students and pediatric residents. Clinical activities of the role will be focused at Advocate Children’s Hospital in Oak Lawn, IL.

Advocate Children’s Hospital, Oak Lawn is a level I trauma center and has a 61 bed NICU, 24 bed PICU, 16 bed surgical heart unit, and busy ER with more than 78,000 visits per year.  The Department of Pediatrics participates in teaching more than 150 medical students and 100 residents (pediatric and other specialties) each year. 

Candidates will serve as Medical Director of Infection Prevention at Advocate Children’s Hospitals. Responsibilities include but are not limited to providing subject matter expertise in infection prevention and healthcare epidemiology; reviewing health-care associated infections with subsequent implementation of infection prevention and process improvement efforts to reduce HAIs; development and implementation of infection prevention principles and policies in general and as they relate to reduction of multi-drug resistant organisms (MDROs) including antimicrobial stewardship efforts, outbreak response and special pathogens; interpretation of epidemiologic data, and improvement of data infrastructures and data reporting in compliance with SPS, NHSN, CMS and other internal metrics.

Candidates should have formal training the field of Pediatric Infectious Disease and Infection Prevention and be Board certified in Pediatric Infectious Disease.  Position is not J-1 eligible.
