Join one of the nation’s largest, most respected health systems and experience what it means to live well. Advocate Health is seeking a skilled acute care surgeon to join our physician-led medical group and serve its patients at our Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Illinois.

  • Full time acute care surgeon
  • Advocate Christ Medical Center is 749-bed premier teaching institution and a major referral hospital for complex surgical care
  • The Acute Care Surgery service includes 8 physicians and is supported by 10 Advanced Practice nurses, medical assistants, and a Trauma Nurse Coordinator
  • Robust practice environment sees approximately 4000 trauma patients every year with approximately 30% penetrating trauma
  • Acute Care Surgery service currently covers 50% of the emergency general surgery call scheduled, with plans for continued growth and expansion
  • Service will perform over 1000 operative cases this year
  • Will evaluate and care for trauma and emergency general surgery patients with 3-4 'in house' trauma/ACS calls per month
  • Will also provide critical care coverage for a 20-bed closed Surgical Trauma Intensive Care Unit; may also provide education for medical students, residents and fellows
Training and/or experience required 
  • 2 year acute care surgery fellowship preferred, will consider candidates who have completed a one year surgical critical care fellowship
  • Must possess superior skills in the care of acutely injured and critically ill surgical patients
